Dudley election results 2023

Dudley borough

  • we stood candidates in 20 of the 24 wards up for grabs (though in St. Thomas’s 2 councillors were elected and we stood one candidate). This mean’s that 84% of voters had a green option and is a brilliant effort from all. Thank you!
  • Overall (across the whole borough) our share of the vote was 6.5%
  • We often beat the Lib Dems into 3rd. We came 3rd in 11 wards, 4th in 7 and 5th in 2. The share of the vote in each ward is shown below.

Norton (target ward)

Overall

  • Our share of the vote in Norton was 17.2%.
  • Looking back as far as 2006, we’ve only had a bigger share of the vote 4 times across the whole borough. These all came from Netherton, Woodside and St Andrews around the time we had Will Duckworth elected as a Councillor (see the table below). This is a really strong result!

A quick look at “swing” will hopefully get you really excited about the work we’ve done and the prospects for the future 😄.

In person vs postal

  • We had a much higher share of the vote among voters who voted at polling stations on polling day than among postal voters (see plot below).
  • much of this will be explained by the timing of our short campaign. We just didn’t have time to have a chance of seriously impacting the choice of postal voters and is something which should encourage us further for next year!
